Marisa Rodriguez (lead singer/guitarist/songwriter) founded the band back in 2016 and began her search for The Moths.
At the start of 2017 Marisa began working with Liam Barnes who she had known for years through the Reading music scene. He had agreed to help Marisa with recording her songs whilst she looked for more permanent band members.
In Autumn 2017 Marisa booked in some recording time with Jason Wilson (producer for bands such as Fightstar, Rueben, Dinosaur Pile-up and many more) at the renowned Stakeout Studios in Hampton, London.
Liam came in to record bass and help with guitar parts for the session and, as a favour to the drummer-less band, Jason agreed to play drums. He also invited the incredibly talented Sophie Lloyd to come in and perform a featuring guitar solo on the band's track "69". This recording experience caused the four of them to form a close friendship and an even stronger creative synergy. Chris Merton, an old friend of Marisa's, completed the band line-up as second lead guitarist in January 2018.
In April 2018 the band played their debut show at the Are You Listening? festival in Reading to a full crowd at the Purple Turtle. Since this first show they have gained a core following, playing increasingly bigger shows, including a headline slot at Readipop Festival's second stage in July 2018.
Since the first recording session, the band have been busy developing and recording more songs. In September 2019 the band released their first single 'Skin' from their debut album, due for release in November 2019 (see their music videos on YouTube). This was followed by two more singles, 'Slave' and 'Needy'.
The band ventured out on their first UK tour in September in support of their debut single release, 'Skin'. The tour was a massive success and has gained them great recognition for their live performances. and they will now be heading out on an album release tour at the end of November/December to help promote their debut album release.

Marisa And The Moths
‘Cute band name’, you say? Trust us: there’s nothing moth-like about these guys. Featuring soaring vocals from Marisa Rodriguez and satisfying (yet sparingly deployed) lead flashiness from virtuosic six-stringer Sophie Lloyd, occasionally grunge, it's also the sort of sharp, chunky modern hard rock that makes you think of Halestorm, Foo Fighters, Audioslave, alongside touches of various rock heavyweights.
Marisa And The Moths are a new band on the scene, and yet they've already rapidly gathered a following which continues to grow at pace. They were recently played as a featured artist on Kerrang! radio and written up as a featured artist in Classic Rock magazine, where their debut single 'Skin' was included on the front cover CD. Their debut self-titled album (released 15th November 2019) has been met with an incredibly positive response from the public. The album charted in the UK album downloads chart to number 66. They were also awarded Album Of The Year 2019 by Female fronted rock and metal revolution.
As well as their own impressive social media presence, Sophie Lloyd, the bands lead guitarist has an impressive 248,000 subscribers on Youtube, 60,000 followers on Facebook, and 140,000 followers on Instagram. The band have a relentless release and touring schedule planned for 2020 with more music video releases to come.
